Bethlehem Lutheran School

school logo 07-08Bethlehem Lutheran School exists today through the grace of God and the unwavering faith of our church’s founding members. Wanting to continue the long-standing Lutheran tradition of providing an exemplary Christian education for their children and grandchildren, Bethlehem Lutheran School opened its doors to its first students in 1940. Over the years, BLS has grown from that first one-room schoolhouse to a multi-faceted facility housing 18 individual classrooms (two each in 1st-8th grade), computer and science labs, library, main and auxiliary gymnasiums, cafeteria, playground, and sports field. The goal of BLS today remains the same as when it first began—to prepare our students with an exemplary Christian education.

BLS currently serves 329 preschool through eighth grade students and their families. Our licensed preschool for three- and four-year olds provides just the right combination of socialization and academics, along with an age-appropriate, faith-building curriculum. Kindergarten students attend school during either the morning or afternoon and have the opportunity to attend the Shining Stars child care program during the other half of the school day if desired. Our Childwatch program offers parents the flexibility to drop off their school-age children as early as 6:30 a.m. and to pick them up after school as late as 6:00 p.m. to accommodate work schedules.

Our first through fourth grade students participate in math, reading, English, science, social studies, art, music, physical education, and religion lessons, daily devotions, and a weekly all-school chapel service. In addition to the basic curriculum, fifth through eighth grade students may choose from electives which meet their interests, as well as participating in after-school sports during the fall, winter, and spring seasons: soccer, volleyball, basketball, cheerleading, and track..

You are invited to contact the school office (303.233.0401) to inquire more about our school or to request an informational packet. Enrollment applications are currently being accepted for all grade levels.

A Message from our Principal

What Makes a Lutheran School Unique?

The Lutheran school is essentially different. It is not a private, smaller, safer version of the public school. The Lutheran school starts with a specific and unique set of beliefs. We believe: that God exists, that He speaks to us through His Word, and that He is the center of life.

Teachers in Lutheran schools don’t simply add God to an academic school day; each subject all day long is an opportunity to share the wonders of God’s world. We view the world and each other based on the absolute, dependable, and unchangeable Word of God. We know God created the world and everything in it. We know that we are given a purpose for life: to bring glory to God.

Education instills a value system in students of what is worthwhile, valuable, and good. The Lutheran school builds its education based on the values and morals of God’s perfect, infallible Word. The Bible is central and authoritative in all areas of the Lutheran school. The student who goes through a Lutheran school graduates with a working knowledge of the truths of God’s Word as a clear understanding of God’s claim on all aspects of life. Education in the Lutheran school prepares students for not only this life, but also for the life hereafter.
